Finite element analysis (FEA)

Our engineers operate ANSYS FEA software, routinely modelling subsea and riser equipment with 2D & 3D linear (elastic) analysis and non-linear (plastic) analysis.

Riser analysis

We have in house riser analysis capability (Orcaflex) and code calculations (e.g. API Spec 17G) to quickly generate a robust basis of design for risers and umbilicals. We work closely with our sister company, 2H Offshore, to provide the level of riser performance verification required for your application.

  • Umbilical analysis, e.g. guide wire and self supporting umbilicals

Fatigue design

We are experienced users of SN-curve fatigue assessment methods, such as DNV RP C203 (now DNVGL-RP-0005), having designed and tested full scale welds and connectors and qualified new fatigue curves. Experience includes SAF / SCF design, hot spot analysis, pipe design and weld design.

We also perform fracture mechanics assessments to BS 7910 / API 579; generating manufacturable designs that bring together material performance, inspection methods and operational reliability.
