Rocksteady V is a variant of our field proven Rocksteady ® subsea mooring connector designed specifically for hull or pile mounting and pull through operations.
Rocksteady V can be integrated with one or more mooring lines in a range of configurations and it can be integrated with a range of commercially available wet mate connectors. This makes Rocksteady V ideal for renewables applications including floating wind, wave and tidal that require power offtake and rapid reconnection.

Rocksteady V can be bolted down through, or up to the hull, enabling simple installation, replacement and servicing of the entire connector in dock.

The connector capacity is verified with 3D finite element analysis, fatigue analysis and load testing. All components are manufactured from ABS and DNV approved mooring and structural materials, protected with field proven low friction and marine growth resistant coatings.
Simple and reliable offshore operations
Rocksteady V automatically aligns the pull-in head and then automatically latches with capture angles up to 180° in azimuth (i.e. any orientation) and 15° offset from vertical. As with Rocksteady, the latch is virtually unaffected by heave motion or pull-in speed, enabling connection in any weather condition.
Lock is achieved hydraulically and the connector can be disconnected with tension in the mooring system, enabling rapid disconnection.

The wet-mate connectors are mounted on a compliant stab plate, with further fine alignment available, enabling connection in a single movement. A secondary electrical connection action can also be accommodated owing to the fine azimuth and vertical alignment provided by Rocksteady V.
Rocksteady V has high bending capacity, which greatly simplifies pull-in and alignment operations, enabling catenary mooring systems to be pulled in vertically and orient to the anchor naturally.

Seabed pull-in
Rocksteady V can be installed on a seabed pile, greatly simplifying pull-in operations and connection of tidal and wave energy converters. The coatings and materials are suitable for long term subsea deployment with cathodic protection.
Debris and marine growth are excluded with a cap that is pulled in and attached to the marker buoy.
